Independent specialty coffee shop in Portland

Coffee worth walking back for

Roastline turns a routine coffee stop into a neighborhood ritual with careful seasonal roasts, a small pastry case made in-house, and a weekly note that tells you exactly what is brewing before you leave home.

Come for the featured espresso, stay for the long bar, warm mugs, and the kind of staff who will gladly tell you why this lot tastes like peach skin after it cools.

Featured roast

Ethiopia Guji

peach, black tea, cane sugar

On bar

espresso, Kalita, iced cherry tonic

dialed fresh every morning

From the oven

salted maple bun + cheddar scone

We keep the board short on purpose so you can see what is new, ask one good question, and get a cup that tastes like someone paid attention.

How Roastline works

A tighter menu makes a better neighborhood shop

Come by for the morning roast

We pull one featured coffee each week and brew it three ways, so your first cup never feels like a guess.

Stay for something made in-house

The pastry case stays tight: morning buns, cardamom shortbread, and one seasonal bake that matches the coffee.

Our weekly brew note sends the roast lineup, shop events, and what is worth showing up early for.

Why locals come back

We would rather do five things well than twenty halfway

Roastline is built around a short bar menu, a clear roast calendar, and staff who know the coffees well enough to guide you without turning the counter into a lecture. We skip sprawling syrup lists and novelty drinks so the cup, the room, and the conversation stay recognizable week after week.

Founder note

I opened Roastline after too many cafe visits where the room looked good but the coffee felt anonymous. We keep the menu intentionally small, taste every batch before service, and write the weekly note like we would talk across the bar: specific, warm, and useful.
